Are you interested in learning how to work more effectively in your community?

  • Do you want to increase your confidence and knowledge about how to get things done in the UK?
  • Want to explore the value that volunteering can give you and your community?
  • Interested in finding out about the roles of people on a committee?
  • Ever wanted to find out more about social media?

Then sign up for our free Nottingham course.

This Advocacy and Leadership course was developed by and for women from the African Diaspora because of local women identifying the need for learning and development in these areas.

Women have natural leadership roles in many families and communities and this course is designed to build on what they are already doing so that they can operate with confidence in the UK.

By the end of the training participants will have increased their understanding of the social policies that affected their lives and will better understand where and how they might be able to improve their own lives and that of others in their community. Their understanding of the role of advocate and leader will be sharpened, and they will be able to think about how they can share and develop their learning with others in community settings. As a result of finding out about what committees are and how they work they will be able to better understand their NHS, local council, social housing provider, and local community groups. With a clearer knowledge about how advocacy works they might feel more confident in speaking up for themselves and or others when communicating with those in authority.
